Art is a legacy, not only in the gift that you pass on to another, but also as representation of who we are; a reflection of heritage and identity. The works in this exhibition reflect a lifetime of Merilyn McDonald’s artistic practice, spanning different themes and materials including landscapes, still life and figurative works.
Alongside this are exhibited lino prints by her daughter, Jillian Reidy. These include worn shoes, reflecting individual choices showing our personality and, in their wear, the path that the wearer has walked through life. Prints of saddlery, worn and discarded, also connect to the people that used them and our cultural memory.
