The
Rotary Club of Grenfell
The Rotary Club of Grenfell
was chartered on 23rd August ,1947, by the Rotary
Club of Young, and in
the past 58 years has made a significant
contribution to this small town.
Its members participate in
community activities such as tree planting, charity door knocks, Meals on
Wheels, national clean up days & catering for local events such as the
annual Henry Lawson Festival. A public park was established by the Grenfell
Rotary Club, and named Rotary Park. In more recent years, Rotarians provided
a rest stop on the Mid Western Highway.
The Club has provided its
District, 9700, with three District Governors and two G.S.E. Team Leaders.
Thirty four Paul Harris Fellows have been awarded & a total of $US34,000
paid to the Foundation.
The Club has always
emphasized Youth Service, & every year donations are made to the six schools
in the district & to other Youth Groups. Numerous young people have taken
part in long & short term youth exchanges, & the Club has hosted overseas
students in return.
Its first female member was
inducted in 1992, & in 2001 the Club installed for the first time, a woman
as its President.
The Rotary Club of Grenfell
is proud of its achievements, & looks forward to being of service to its
community & to carry out all avenues of service.
