Our History

The Rotary Club of Grenfell

The Rotary Club of Grenfell was chartered on 23rd August ,1947, by the Rotary

Club of Young, and in the past 58 years has made a significant contribution to this small town.

Its members participate in community activities such as tree planting, charity door knocks, Meals on Wheels, national clean up days & catering for local events such as the annual Henry Lawson Festival. A public park was established by the Grenfell Rotary Club, and named Rotary Park. In more recent years, Rotarians provided a rest stop on the Mid Western Highway.

The Club has provided its District, 9700, with three District Governors and two G.S.E. Team Leaders. Thirty four Paul Harris Fellows have been awarded & a total of $US34,000 paid to the Foundation.

The Club has always emphasized Youth Service, & every year donations are made to the six schools in the district & to other Youth Groups. Numerous young people have taken part in long & short term youth exchanges, & the Club has hosted overseas students in return.

Its first female member was inducted in 1992, & in 2001 the Club installed for the first time, a woman as its President.

The Rotary Club of Grenfell is proud of its achievements, & looks forward to being of service to its community & to carry out all avenues of service.
