'Wild Card Event" in association with VIC, QLD, SA, NT State Libraries. Winning Heat and Wild Card entrants will have opportunity to become a State Finalist.

Saturday 12th 3:00 pm

This year The Grenfell Henry Lawson Festival of Arts is proud to introduce, Poetry Slam.

Hosted by internationally acclaimed Miles Merrill, Poetry Slam rips the label off the poetry jar. It is competition Poetry, where contestants have two to minutes to speak, howl, whisper or even sing your original poem. It is a live electric event where the audience is the judge, and there will be prizes.

Miles will also conduct his signature Slam Poetry Wordshop with Students from The Henry Lawson High School on Friday 11th of June at the School. Students will mix creative writing with drama and poetry, to produce a high powered explosion of live literary theatre. In his stunning one man show Miles will free their minds and their pens. Students will then be encouraged to attend and compete at the Poetry Slam at 3.00 on Saturday afternoon after the Festival Procession. This event is Open to any competitor, who may be tired of reciting someone else’s ideas, and who would like to share in this unique event.

Now with the addition of the Poetry Slam to return and get your fill, your cup will be full to over flowing with a plethora of Poetry provided on the Platform of The Railway Station Grenfell. See you there.
