President’s Welcome

On behalf of The Grenfell Henry Lawson Festival of Arts Committee I would like to welcome all people attending our Festival over this June long weekend.

This is the 55th Henry Lawson Festival, one the longest running festivals of its kind in NSW. In 2012 we are celebrating the 55 years of Henry Lawson’s life, this also being the 90th anniversary of his death in 1922. Our Festival is an event where we can celebrate the great contribution Henry Lawson made to Australian folk literature.

The people of the Weddin Shire can be proud of the villages of Caragabal, Greenethorpe and Quandialla in the way in which they display such a strong sense of community spirit when it comes to running special events. Once again Grenfell is ready to display its strong sense of community involvement in the organising and running of The Grenfell Henry Lawson Festival of Arts. There are a significant number of people who give a substantial amount of their own time towards the successful running of this event and I thank them greatly.

It is hoped that this years’ Henry Lawson Festival will be one of enjoyment for all, one which draws people from wide regions across the country and one which promotes Grenfell to the broader community. We as a committee believe that this year’s Henry Lawson Festival will be one which all the people of the Weddin Shire can be proud.
